This Privacy Policy applies to portugalindetail.com and www.portugalindetail.com (together, the “Site”). Portugal in Detail is an independent travel publication operated from Portugal. This policy explains how information is handled when you browse the Site, follow a recommendation or contact the publisher.
The Site currently has no user accounts, newsletter form, advertising pixels or analytics service. It does not sell your personal information. A necessary cookie remembers your privacy choice; optional categories remain off unless you permit them.
Who is responsible
Portugal in Detail is the controller of personal information described in this policy. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to portugalindetail@gmail.com.
Information handled when you visit
The Site may handle the following limited information:
- Technical request information. The hosting and content-delivery services may process an IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, referring page, approximate location, timestamps and security logs to deliver and protect the Site.
- Privacy choices. The Site stores your cookie preferences, the policy version and the date selected in a necessary first-party cookie.
- Messages you send. If you contact the publisher, the message, email address and information you choose to provide will be used to respond and maintain an appropriate record.
- Third-party requests. Some photographs are delivered by Unsplash. Loading them may send ordinary technical request information to Unsplash. Affiliate partners receive information under their own policies only after you choose to follow an external link.
Why information is used
Technical information is used to provide, secure and troubleshoot the Site. Privacy choices are stored to respect your selection. Messages are used to answer your request. Where European data protection law applies, these activities rely on legitimate interests in operating and securing the publication, steps taken at your request, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where consent is required.
Cookies and similar technology
The Site asks before using non-essential browser storage. You may accept all optional categories, reject non-essential technology or make a category-by-category choice. Refusing optional cookies does not prevent you from reading the Site.
| Item | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
pid_consent | Remembers privacy choices and policy version | Necessary | Up to 12 months |
No optional analytics or advertising tool is currently active. Should one be added later, it must remain blocked until the corresponding category is allowed, and this policy will be updated.
You can withdraw consent or change your selection at any time by choosing Your privacy choices. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the change.
Affiliate links and external sites
The Site may link to hotel platforms, experience marketplaces, travel services and other external websites. Some links may be affiliate links, which can allow the partner to attribute a visit or purchase to Portugal in Detail. The Site does not receive your payment details. Once you leave the Site, the external service controls its own collection and cookies under its privacy policy.
Sharing and sale of information
Personal information may be processed by service providers that host, deliver, secure or maintain the Site, and when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. Portugal in Detail does not currently sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics.
Global Privacy Control and U.S. privacy rights
Where applicable, U.S. residents may have rights to know or access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information and to opt out of its sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling. They may also have the right to appeal a denied request and to receive equal service after exercising a privacy right.
The Site recognizes a browser's Global Privacy Control signal. When detected, advertising and sale/sharing-related tracking stays disabled on that browser. Because the Site does not currently sell or share personal information, there is no separate sale or sharing opt-out to process.
European privacy rights
If European data protection law applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data, or object to processing. You may withdraw consent at any time and complain to your local supervisory authority. In Portugal, the supervisory authority is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).
International processing and retention
Providers may process information outside your country. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards are used. Information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including security, legal and record-keeping needs. The privacy-choice cookie expires after up to 12 months unless you replace or delete it sooner.
Children
The Site is a general travel publication and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
Security and changes
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. This policy may change when the Site's services or legal obligations change. The latest version and effective date will remain available on this page.
